So isn't it natural for Lawson to still be in the minors at 25?

Josh Judy was drafted in 2007 and, like Lawson, was only 24 last season and in Double-A. Lawson was probably blocked by Ackley when he was traded to the mariners and is now blocked by Kipnis and Phelps.

I'm not sure if he's just filler or he's just been the victim of some bad luck - being blocked. I guess he's filler no matter what if Kipnis proves to be the real deal.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-65944949405397545212011-03-03T09:23:03.098-05:002011-03-03T09:23:03.098-05:00Love the fickle beast reference...in honor of that...Love the fickle beast reference...in honor of that, I propose the name "Chestnut Chad" Durbin.

The Laffey trade doesn't make a whole lot of sense. From what I've read, the guy (Lawson) is described as a good fielder who is basically "organizational depth or filler." Laffey was still useful.

The whole star power thing is encapsulated in Choo. When we got Choo from the Mariners I remember all the excitement when baseball pundits declared the Tribe robbed the Mariners blind because Choo was a future star...oh, wait, no they didn't. You just never know until these guys have room to grow in the bigs. To say LaPorta and Brantley are supporting cast, did the Mariners get a better deal for Lee because Justin Smoak will be a star, Carlos Carrasco is a has-been prospect...

Speaking of which, count me in as part of the CC2 fan club. I still think the Indians got as much as anyone for Lee. The best haul was deemed as the Mariners, as they got Smoak, a 6'7" finesse pitcher, some guy that beats women and Lawson. But the Indians have THREE of the four trade chips in the majors. One is a starter with a high ceiling (Carrasco), one at the least is a utility guy with some upside (Donald) and one is a good defensive BU catcher (Marson). That sounds like good return, right? Oh, they also a young 6'5" RH starter who throws near 100mph. Imagine if that pans out.

Doesn't sound like they got hosed to me...Halifaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16712626480683595819noreply@blogger.com
