Some sort of chart like one a video game might give us? Sizemore is at 70%, Brantley is at 74%, Santana is at 82%, Hafner is working at 80%, The Chiz is currently dinged and managing a solid 63%... I think you get the point. At least Duncan is up around 94%.

The question I'm plagued by is how do other teams stack up right now? What's Miguel Cabrera look like these days? How's Mark Buehrle feelin'? Are they as beaten down as our Tribe players? It kind of feels like Cleveland has been taking some lumps lately, even as they eke out some decent wins. Gutty play, guys. Good on ya.CLohsehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10640058765124455620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-65291460529422939412011-07-08T17:48:23.518-04:002011-07-08T17:48:23.518-04:00The whole bit about Hafner not being the same afte...The whole bit about Hafner not being the same after getting hit is a myth, as far as I'm concerned. He was a beast at the start of the '07 season, hitting as well as he had in '06 until the last few days of April. He was never the same after April '07. I'm sure that was when the shoulder issue sprung up.

I think Ludwick would be a pretty clear upgrade over what the Indians currently have floating around out there. His overall numbers are still better than Choo's, much less the Buck/Kearns. You do have to take into account he's hitting in SD, though his overall road numbers are about identical this year. But it's not just Choo who's an issue, after all. Sizemore's doing his best Branyan impersonation and clearly isn't right after the second knee injury, and I wonder about Brantley, ever since they said he had some kind of shoulder discomfort he hasn't hit. It doesn't have to be Ludwick, and I would not want it to be Franceour, but they need an outfielder if they are serious about a run.Sethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11099230441718601386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-19208009128151423812011-07-08T11:15:21.318-04:002011-07-08T11:15:21.318-04:00You knew that was coming, didn't you Paul? :) ...You knew that was coming, didn't you Paul? :) It would definitely be a poor move.

I'm not as big of a fan of Santana as you are. I know all the arguments... but too much striking out, especially with guys on. Hey, he's a rookie...

His OBP and slugging are pretty good. And he's actually only on pace to whiff about 125 times. It just seems like he strikes out in situations where he can't afford to, but he's still learning.

But the guy's also on pace to hit 25-30 HR and drive in 90.

I'd buy that for a dollar!Halifaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16712626480683595819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-6955120576363785712011-07-08T10:54:05.385-04:002011-07-08T10:54:05.385-04:00Um...no on David Wright.

You never know.

Question is, if Wright could regain his pre-2011 form, would he help the Indians dormant offense, and would the fan base be energized by "Cheap Dolan" finally making a move to push for the pennant?

In the long run, probably not the move to make. But Wright has a history of seasons with 25 HR and 100 RBI to go along with a Gold Glove or two. Prospects are prospects until they do something in the bigs. How's that can't-miss Carlos Santana working out so far?Halifaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16712626480683595819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-73103413451692642082011-07-08T10:21:19.229-04:002011-07-08T10:21:19.229-04:00Having a 90 mph fastball zeroing in on your noggin...Having a 90 mph fastball zeroing in on your noggin has a way of taking the edge off of your aggressive hitting.Halifaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16712626480683595819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-86484979873550006722011-07-08T10:20:25.983-04:002011-07-08T10:20:25.983-04:00Now that Chiz took one off the face you could deal...Now that Chiz took one off the face you could deal him for David Wright. I wouldn't have before that, but that has a way of messing guys up -- (see: Hafner, Travis).

People talk about roids and his shoulder, but he has never been the same beast of a hitter after taking one off the cheek.Halifaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16712626480683595819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-37537054900237724522011-07-08T10:13:28.851-04:002011-07-08T10:13:28.851-04:00It will be interesting to see how they use Valbuen...It will be interesting to see how they use Valbuena as he probably represents a better "platoon" option for The OC than Phelps did, even if Acta certainly seems reticent to actually stick to his guns and not have Orlando ever face a RHP again.

With Valbuena's "ability" to play 3B, the bigger question becomes how long Hannahan sticks around on the roster, even with The Chiz taking one off the cheek. You would think that having UI like Valbuena and Donald would give the Indians much more flexibility around Uncle Orlando and Lonnie than having Hannahan as a back-up, his sterling defense considered.

As for giving up prospects, I suppose you could make that "losing Max Ramirez for Lofton never hurt" argument, but if you don't HAVE to go out and get that RF, why sacrifice someone who could be useful at some point down the road?

A lot of that hinges on Choo's real timetable for a return (and I'm not opposed to adding a RH bat off the bench, although Duncan's not bad when used correctly), but "hating to lose" someone has to be balanced against "loving to add" someone.Paul Cousineauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03490622970961409253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11805401.post-26768908533726991242011-07-08T01:02:19.421-04:002011-07-08T01:02:19.421-04:00Not a lot of talk about Hafner's slow bat spee...Not a lot of talk about Hafner's slow bat speed right now. While I doubt he is stellar out there, he has logged 11 games in LF for the Clippers this season (in addition to 5 at 2B, 11 at 3B, 45 at SS).Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06801782543541822390noreply@blogger.com
