Roster Moves

In addition to Ryan Mulhern getting trimmed off of the roster earlier (to join the Bisons), it looks like Andrew Brown and Fausto Carmona have been optioned to Buffalo.

Brown made a strong push for the final bullpen spot (which Graves now looks like the front runner to fill), but will start the season in Buffalo. Expect Brown to follow a similar path as Fernando Cabrera last year, where he will likely overwhelm hitters in AAA, then be ready to contribute in Cleveland when called upon.

Carmona, too, impressed the Tribe brass this Spring (with a 0.75 ERA in 12 IP) and looks to be the spot starter for the team. He seems to be a little further along than Jeremy Sowers (at this point) and may be called up in case Jason Johnson doesn't perform well in the first few months.

Both players would be classified as "Stars of the Spring" who opened a lot of eyes in terms of where they are in their development. Expect both to throw some innings in Cleveland this year.

More posts will be forthcoming, the Coldplay concert and getting 16 channels of HBO and Cinemax since Friday have put a dent into my productivity.

I was just watching CC getting interviewed on ESPN classic, and they were asking him to compare this years Tribe to Major League. CC said that Belliard is most like Cerrano, b/c Jelly doesn't let anyone touch his bats and he is very superstitious. CC said that Wickman was the player that was most like Jake Taylor and that he (CC) was most like Vaughn, because he just "throws it as hard as I can. The comparison, however, that blew me away was when CC said that Brandon Phillips was most like Willie "Mays" Hayes. He said Phillips carries himself with the same swaggery style as Hayes, and he isn't afraid to let people know how good he is....I would think that Phillips is more like Treadway.

Rock,
Now does everyone believe me that B-Phil is living in another world, one in which he is STILL a top prospect? How do you think he'll react to being a utility INF all year? Nice Treadway reference.

TB,
10 rows back on the floor with free tix means I'm going to Coldplay. It's the 4 hours at Flannery's before and 2 hours after at the Hairy Buff that hurt.

Now i'm convinced that B-phil is the 2nd baseman of the future...his game has to catch up to his confidence at some point.
